Prior to opening Lucali in 2006, Mark had no pizza-making experience, except for preparing pizza on English muffins.

Driven by a desire to replicate the pizza he
cherished from his youth - thin, pliable crust with a touch of cheese and sauce - he embarked on a journey that eventually would make him a celebrated pizzaiolo. His proficiency in
fabrication and construction led him to building the brick oven that fires up the heart of Lucali.
